Letter from the ChiefJuly 17, 2005 Welcome to the Pattsmouth Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad web site. This open door site has been put together by a few of our dedicated members who go beyond the call of the department to help keep you informed of what we are all about. I will like to thank them for the hard work and time they have done for the department putting together this site. I also hope you get an opportunity to stop by and visit our Open Door Station and have a chance to meet our members and take a look at the equipment from the great support of the community. The Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire & Rescue Squad Department is dedicated to supporting the people of the community in the event of a crisis of emergency. The department is designed of an all volunteer department of men and women who volunteer their time for training to educate themselves to help the people of the community. Why? Because we care and have it in our hearts to help save lives and property to the best of our ability and education. The Fire Department is well known during the first week of October during Fire Prevention Week for their time that is spent at schools and day care facilities teaching children about fire prevention and emergency escape plans in the event of a fire. We not only educate this in the first week of October the members will educate these 365 days out of the years. It is very important to educate the youth as soon as possible. This is a crisis that we had to experience before and hope never again! The department is also well known for their annual spaghetti feed fund raiser at the fire station. Great family event and we are proud to have the community support.
As the department is celebrating its 125th years of service to the community, it is a great part that we have survived by dedicated volunteers and the support of the community. I look back and see it is just getting better by walking in the foot steps of the past to the future. The Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department will continue to grow with the community for many years to come! As we will welcome more volunteers into the department, please visit our appreciation site to consider what it takes to be a volunteer if you live or will be moving into the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department district.
